Close ALL other programs that use the internet like
Yahoo, MSN, Kazaa, e-mail, and all other internet explorer (or
firefox) windows.
Find a server with the lowest load on it
(represented by the coloured bar), and click on it to run the test.
Step 4
Click on several more servers until you find out
which one gives you the highest UPLOAD speed results
Once you find your highest upload you will have to do a
little math. The speed results that you get will be in kilobits per
second (kib/sec), but for eMule, you want to know your maximum upload
speed in kilobytes per second (kb/sec). To do this is very simple. You
simply take the speed in kib/sec and divide by 8 to get kb/sec.
From the picture (make all the settings exactly the same
as you see in the red squares' areas to make this step really fast):
#1: Make sure there is no checkmark here.
#2: The upload speed you got from STEP 4 (above) will be needed here.
Give eMule 50-75% of your maximum upload speed (in kb/sec).
#3: Put a checkmark here.
#4: Click the "Apply" bottom, and then click the "Test Ports" button. If
the test gives you bad results (shows something in
RED letters, e-mail me for help.)
#5: Put the number 300 here.
#6: Put the number 600 here.
#7: Put a checkmark in both boxes.
#8: Put a checkmark in both boxes.
#9: Click the "OK" button for the Options window. Close eMule, and start
it again. In the picture you should see the globe with 2 green arrows.
If it looks different than this after 30 seconds, then e-mail me for
help.
Step 6
#1: To search for a song, click the "Search" button.
#2: Enter what you want to search for. Also you can
specify the minimum and/or maximum size of the file you want to find.
#3: Select the type of file you are looking for.
#4: Click the "Start button" to start the search. NOTE: if the search
goes on for 15-20 seconds, a bunch of fake results will show up. This is
spam. Ignore it.
Step
7
#1: Select the files you want by left-clicking on the
files.
#2: To download your selection, click the "Download" button near the
bottom, or right-click on the selected files and choose "Download"
Step
8
Click the "Transfers" button to see what you are
downloading.
Step
9
To change where your files end up after they finished
downloading, and to understand the colours in eMule, open these
pictures.
If you're still lost, click on the big "Help" button on
te top-right of the program. If that does not work, contact me.
